i've bet you all heard about the Titnic or watched the movie. I'm doing this as a post because, other then Artic Dogs, I'm fascinated with history, and Mythology. Well i want to do history today.
The RMS TITANIC was a passenger cruise line bound for America. But sadly on her Maiden voyage she hit an iceberg. It was the largest cruise ship at the time. it was owned by the white star line, and constructed by harland and wolff shipyard in ireland. After setting sail for New York U.S. on the 10th of April 1912 with 2,223 people on board, she hit an iceberg four days after leaving at 11:40 p.m
On April 15th she sank at 2:20 am. the captain launched a women and childen first protocall. her length was 883 feet and 9 inches. and the width was 92 feet. The Captain Edward j Smith had recieved many iceberg warnings from other ships. Many lay in the titanics path. The finally neared one and it scraped the starboards side. The ship could stay afloat with only four compartments filled, but they just supposed that. The closet ship the Carpathia was 58 miles away. They reported saying they were going the maximum speed in their direction.
At 2:10 the stern raised out the water, exposing the propellers. And by 2:17 the water had reached the boat deck.Shortly afterwards, the forward funnel collapsed, crushing part of the bridge and people in the water. On deck, people were scrambling towards the stern or jumping overboard in hopes of reaching a lifeboat. The ship's stern slowly rose into the air, and everything unsecured crashed towards the water. While the stern rose, the electrical system finally gave way causing the lights to go out. Shortly afterward, the stress on the hull caused Tianic to break apart between the last two funnels, and the bow section went completely under. The stern section righted itself slightly and then rose vertically. After a few moments, at 2:20 AM, it also sank
of 2,224 passenger only 1 third survived. leaving 710 that survived, and 1514 that perished. The titanic considered unsinkable which i bet many though they had Jinxed it. Last year i saw the Titnic display at the MTS hall. it was saddening to see. lots of things survived, unused dishes, Leather bags, light fixtures, hair brushed, shoes, and a magazine article stowed in bag.
Another thing is on April 6 2012 it'll be 100 years since it sank. And in a another decade, it to, like the ones who died, Will perish.
