Reccomendation Friday

This weeks recommendation is Pharaoh hounds!

At first glance this dog will appear graceful and elegant, as well Athletic and powerful. It's build is one with strength without bulkiness. A pharaoh hound stands from 21 to 24 inches, and weighs 40 to 60 pounds. Males are larger then females. Their coat is fine with no feathering mostly slicked back. The coat feels silky yet hard.

The shade kennels only accept are red, although the shade may vary. from tan to a deep chestnut and all shades in between. All pharaoh's eyes are Amber, which compliment the coat. The nose, whiskers, paw pads, nails and eye rims, must be the same color. Pharaohs "bluch" whenexcited, their nose and ears turn bright pink.

The pharoah hound is intelligiant, trainable, playful and an acive breed ( perfect for avid walkers). It shys away from strangers but if very open and affectinate with owners. It doesn't yap or bark for the sake of barking. It is a very good watch dog.

As you can tell Pharaoh hounds are from egypt and the mediterranian area. As i suspect, looking at pictures. The pharoh hound is  a sacred dog in egypt, back whe  phaorohs ruled. The Hound must be mistaken for a jackel. The head in some egytian carvings, look the the head of Anubis, the Jackel god.
You can easily groon them by using a damp cloth. They aren't much trouble. Sometimes the hounds maybe stubborn but easily trained. They are best in tracking, or just a house pet.

If you want to Hunt with one take it out at night. Therre is less distractions in the night.

As you can see the Pharaoh hound is lovable and playful. I would reccomend it if
  • Your family is constantly active.
  • You hunt
  • You live in a rural area and need a watch dog
  • Or if your ready to take on resposibility for a dog
Also since this is the first reccomendation friday, you will find the bio of the animals, and a list of how this animal will be good for what types of homes

please comment about what you think of these amazings dogs :)
